SRI SPORTS ANNOUNCES CLEVELAND/SRIXON CONSOLIDATION

SRI Sports announced that it will begin the consolidation and streamlining of its distribution channels as part of a business realignment effort. "We believe that this consolidation will help the SRI Sports Group in strengthening sales bases of its golf gear lineup across the globe, and respond more quickly to customers' needs than in the past," said SRI Sports President and CEO Hiroyuki Bamba. "At the same time, we will accelerate operating efficiency by integrating the administrative as well as logistics functions, thus improving earning capacity."

In North America specifically, beginning September 1st, 2008, Srixon Sports USA (currently headquartered in Georgia) will be merged into Cleveland Golf headquarters located in Huntington Beach, CA. This will enable Cleveland Golf to oversee the marketing, sales and distribution of Srixon products in addition to its own Cleveland Golf and Never Compromise brands. Meanwhile, Cleveland Golf Canada Corp. (headquartered in British Columbia) will take over distribution rights for all three brands while reporting directly to Cleveland Golf's corporate headquarters in Huntington Beach.

Most aspects of the business will simply be folded into the existing structure at Cleveland Golf including marketing, sales, tour, customer service, etc. The U.S. sales force will be expanded and the sales representatives will carry Srixon as well as Cleveland Golf and Never Compromise.

10-Year-Old GOLF PRODIGY SHOOTS 88 AT PUBLINKS

Ten-year-old Allisen Corpuz of Kapolei, Hawaii, shot a 15-over-par 88 in the 2nd round of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. Not bad for someone going into fifth grade. Her two-day total of 169 was nine strokes over the 160 cut for the 64 golfers advancing to match play, but it was sensational for a girl who stands a mere 5-feet tall and weighs in at 111 pounds.

“It was nice,” the shy, soft-spoken golfer with the long ponytail said of her debut in national championship golf.”

In the first round Monday at the par-73 Erin Hills Golf Course, she became the youngest player to compete in a U.S. Golf Association championship at the age of 10 years, 3 months. She swiped the honor from another golfing phenom from Hawaii, Michelle Wie, who in 2000 was 10 years, 9 months when she played in the same tournament. Her college-age playing partners for two days also failed to make the cut. Molly Schemm of the University of Wisconsin-Madison had a 166 total and Mallory Fraiche of the University of Arkansas 167.

Allisen hit mostly straight 200-yard tee shots and consistently long 3-woods to give herself a chance but struggled with her short game. Despite a slew of missed putts and bogeys, however, she never lost her composure.

Asked who taught her to stay calm, she quietly replied, “My dad.”
